Development of a VR/AR Research Testbed for Unified Incident Command

This pilot project, funded by DHS S&T FRG is exploring the ability of VR/AR to support gaining mastery in incident command from the expanded perspective of Unified Command between fire, law enforcement and EMS. The emerging testbed system will integrate research from first responders across geographic and professional sectors to dynamically populate robust, complex, yet nimble, scenarios that capture real-world interaction contexts. The VR environment under development will provide the ability to explore scalable events that may be planned (e.g. parades, political conventions) or unplanned (e.g. single shooter, large-scale terrorist cyber event).
