Medical AR

Medical AR is an augmented reality game used to support the rehabilitation of lower leg amputees.

Exercise interventions have shown that stepping exercises are an effective treatment method to improve postural stability and balance. Medical AR is designed to encourage mobility around a fixed area while recording and rewarding ‘correct’ gait characteristics.

Using Oculus DK1 and cameras fixed to the headset, obstacles are displayed in the physical environment as stepping stones at varying distances apart. The patient scores points depending on whether they make contact with the stones – and how close to the center of the stone they step.
