Dig It! Let's Build a Tunnel

Dig It! Let’s Build a Tunnel is an interactive exhibit created for the Kentucky Science Center that lets visitors build an underground tunnel and explore the engineering and geologic aspects of the process. Visitors can investigate information on geotechnical analysis, configuration and shaping of the tunnel structure, and experiment with the various methods for producing a tunnel.

Dig It! showcases the exploratory learning evident in E2i STEM research projects; allowing learners to explore through making choices, testing those choices and understand the result. This allows opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving in a real world context. Experiences like these help to empower learners to seek the best solution by changing parameters to understand the results.
