Muse(IQ)al Cubes
The Summer 2010 interns were presented with a goal for their semester project: To create an experience using new media that could be showcased at Otronicon. They pooled their creative knowledge and designed an proof of concept for a game that would teach music theory by playing with wooden blocks. The blocks were coupled with augmented reality technology so the software could track the users movements. The users goal is to use the blocks to bounce a ball around a table to activate new parts of a song. Each time the ball comes in contact with a block, a new sound is heard. The goal is to activate all parts of the song and reach the goal without losing the ball. The game turned into a very unique immersive experience that brought knowledge to the users, as well as entertained them.
